What is RT-PCR Test?
- Real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR)
- Tests the genetic material (nucleic acid) of SARS-Cov-2
- A sample is collected from upper or lower respiratory areas, like a nasal swab or throat swab
When do you need an RT-PCR Test for SARS-Cov-2?
- If you have any of the COVID symptoms (cough, fever, breathing problems, fatigue)
- You are travelling and need a confirmatory test
- Your doctor suspects you have COVID (you had a possible exposure and some suggestive symptoms) and advises this test
Omicron, the latest variant of the ever-evolving Sars-Cov-2, is highly transmissible and reports say that it may pose an increased risk of reinfection.
The requirement for prolific testing is increasing with time. You are back in the office. You may have visited your parents in another city. You have been going to the mall. You have travelled. Since you are not completely restricted within your homes anymore, you must be careful. Now, more than never.
A complete schedule of vaccination ensures significant protection from the severity of the disease. However, the risk of a milder form remains. Take the precautionary dose if you are eligible. Keep your masks on, look for symptoms of respiratory ailments, fatigue, fever, and other known symptoms. If you present symptoms, get tested to ensure your family and neighbours’ safety.
Visit or call RxDx Healthcare for sample collection to get the gold standard COVID confirmatory test, RT-PCR.
