FAQs – CT Scan at RxDx Clinics, Whitefield

Availability & Booking

Is CT scan available at all RxDx Clinics?

No. CT scan services are currently available only at RxDx Clinics, Whitefield (Bengaluru).

Can I book a CT scan online with a date and time slot?

Yes. You can book a CT scan by selecting the body part, choosing Plain / With contrast / Not sure, and then selecting an available date and time slot. Final confirmation happens after clinical verification.

Do I need a doctor’s prescription to book a CT scan?

In most cases, yes. CT scans are typically performed with a valid prescription or clinical indication to ensure the scan is appropriate and safe.

What if I don’t have a prescription but have symptoms?

You may still book by selecting “Not sure” and providing your symptoms. The final scan type is confirmed after clinician and radiologist assessment.

Cost, Pricing & Payment

How much does a CT scan cost in Whitefield, Bengaluru?

CT scan cost depends on the body part scanned, whether contrast is required, and scan complexity. At RxDx Clinics, Whitefield, the final price is confirmed before the scan, after assessment.

Will the price change after the scan?

No surprise charges are added after the scan. Any change (for example, need for contrast) is discussed before proceeding, based on clinical requirement.

Are EMI options available for CT scans?

Yes. No-cost and low-cost EMI options are available on transactions above ₹3,000, applicable on most credit cards.

Plain vs Contrast CT

What is the difference between a plain CT and a contrast CT?

A plain (non-contrast) CT is done without contrast material and is sufficient for many conditions such as head injury or sinus evaluation.
A contrast CT uses an injected contrast agent to highlight blood vessels, inflammation, or organs, and is used only when clinically indicated.

Is contrast always required for CT scans?

No. Many CT scans are performed without contrast. Contrast is used only when it adds diagnostic value.

Who decides whether contrast is needed?

The decision is made after reviewing your clinical indication, prescription, medical history, and safety considerations, in consultation with the radiologist.

Safety, Radiation & Medical Conditions

Is a CT scan safe?

CT scans involve controlled radiation exposure and are recommended only when the clinical benefit outweighs the risk. They are widely used and considered safe when appropriately advised.

Does radiation from a CT scan stay in the body?

No. Radiation does not remain in your body after the scan. The main consideration is cumulative exposure over time, which doctors factor in when advising imaging.

Can pregnant women undergo a CT scan?

CT scans are generally avoided during pregnancy unless clinically essential. If you are pregnant or may be pregnant, inform the team before the scan.

Is CT scan safe for elderly patients?

Yes. CT scans can be safely performed in elderly patients when clinically indicated, with appropriate precautions.

Kidney Function, Diabetes & Medicines

Is contrast CT safe for patients with kidney disease?

If contrast CT is being considered, kidney history is reviewed. Additional tests or alternative imaging may be advised depending on individual risk.

I have diabetes. Can I undergo a CT scan with contrast?

Yes, in many cases. However, please inform the team about your diabetes and medications so appropriate precautions can be taken.

I take metformin. Do I need to stop it before a contrast CT?

In certain situations, temporary adjustment of metformin may be advised depending on kidney function. This is assessed individually and guidance is provided if applicable.

Preparation & What to Expect

Do I need to fast before a CT scan?

Fasting may be advised for contrast CT scans. Plain CT scans often do not require fasting. Preparation instructions are shared during booking confirmation.

What should I wear for a CT scan?

Wear comfortable clothing without metal components. You may be asked to remove jewellery or metal objects before the scan.

How long does a CT scan take?

The scan itself usually takes a few minutes. Total visit time may be longer if preparation or contrast administration is required.

Will the scan be painful?

The CT scan itself is painless. If contrast is used, you may feel a brief warm sensation during injection.

Reports & Follow-up

Who reviews my CT scan images?

All CT scans are interpreted by a pool of qualified and trained Radiologists.

When will I receive my CT scan report?

Report timelines vary depending on scan type and clinical priority. The expected timeline is communicated at the centre.

Will someone explain my CT report to me?

If you need help understanding your report, you can book a doctor consultation at RxDx Clinics for clinical correlation and guidance.

Can CT scans diagnose cancer?

CT scans can identify suspicious findings, but final diagnosis often requires correlation with clinical evaluation, lab tests, or biopsy, depending on the condition.

Choosing the Right Scan

How do I know if I need a CT scan or MRI?

CT is often preferred for trauma, lungs, brain bleeds, and abdominal emergencies, while MRI is used for detailed soft-tissue and neurological evaluation. Your doctor decides based on symptoms and urgency.

Can CT replace ultrasound?

Ultrasound is usually the first-line test for many conditions. CT is advised when ultrasound findings are unclear or when more detail is required.

What if I am not sure which CT scan to select while booking?

Choose “Not sure (we’ll guide you)”. The appropriate scan is finalised after assessment.

Appointments, Changes & Support

Can I reschedule or cancel my CT scan appointment?

Yes. Rescheduling or cancellation policies depend on slot confirmation status. The centre team will guide you.

Will RxDx contact me after booking?

Yes, but only regarding your CT scan booking or enquiry. RxDx follows consent-led, privacy-first communication practices.
