A data analysis of over 28,000 adults reveals that only 16.8% people get vaccinated, even though 83.6% of the same group believe that vaccines are important,” says Ashwani Sinha, COO, RxDx Clinics. He adds, “Most participants in the study were between 27-49 years, and many were already in higher-risk categories with conditions such as thyroid disorders, hypertension, high cholesterol, and diabetes. He says, “Yet, vaccination rates remain low even among those who stand to benefit the most.”
Ashwani adds, “Across vaccines, uptake was limited — around 8% for hepatitis B and 5% for influenza, dropping to less than 2% for pneumococcal vaccines and below 1% for shingles. Even for HPV, uptake among eligible women was under 8%.”
“The most common response to vaccination is, ‘I didn’t know adults still needed it.’ Without a direct prompt, ‘next time’ rarely comes,” says, Dr CMA Belliappa, Chief Medical Officer and General Physician, RxDx Clinics.
“The study shows that when individuals understand why a vaccine matters to their own health, uptake improves. The shift happens when the message moves from general awareness to ‘this applies to me’,” he says. “Ask one simple question at your next health visit—‘Do I need any vaccines now?’” asks the doctor. Because today, the biggest challenge in adult vaccination is not belief. It’s the step between knowing & doing.
