Overview

Cancer rarely gives a warning. Many of the conditions this package screens for ovarian, breast, colorectal, pancreatic, thyroid, and liver cancers can develop without noticeable symptoms until they have already progressed. In women above 40, the risk profile shifts in ways that make structured, annual screening genuinely worthwhile rather than precautionary.

The Cancer Risk Assessment for Women Above 40 Years (Standard) at RxDx Clinics covers the core range of investigations recommended for this age group. It combines multiple tumour markers in a single blood draw, a cervical Pap Smear, chest and breast imaging via X-ray, abdominal and pelvic ultrasound, a full blood count, and stool testing for hidden blood, all coordinated in one visit. Two oncologist consultations are included, available in the clinic at Sarjapur Road and Whitefield branches or via teleconsultation from anywhere.

This is a well-rounded starting point for women who want a formal cancer risk review. Women who want more detailed lung imaging or are seeking enhanced breast assessment should consider the Advanced version, which replaces the chest X-ray with a low-dose CT scan.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the Standard and Advanced packages for women above 40?

Both packages include the same tumour marker blood tests, Pap Smear, mammography, ultrasound, and oncologist consultations. The Standard package includes a Chest X-ray for lung and thoracic assessment. The Advanced package replaces this with a Low-Dose Chest CT Scan, which produces more detailed cross-sectional images and is better suited for detecting early lung nodules. Women with a history of smoking or known lung risk factors may want to consider the Advanced option.

What is X-ray Mammography, and why is it included?

Mammography uses low-dose X-rays to produce detailed images of breast tissue. It can detect changes — including small masses and calcifications — that are too early to feel. It is the standard recommended breast cancer screening investigation for women from the age of 40. The procedure takes around 15–20 minutes and involves brief compression of each breast.

    What is a Pap Smear?

A Pap Smear collects a small sample of cells from the cervix to check for abnormal changes that can indicate cervical cancer or pre-cancerous conditions. It is low-discomfort, quick, and one of the most effective cancer screening tools available.

What are tumour markers and how should I interpret them?

Tumour markers are substances produced by cancer cells or by the body in response to cancer. Tests such as CA 125, CEA, CA 19.9, and AFP can indicate elevated risk or the presence of certain cancers, but they are not conclusive on their own. Elevated results are always interpreted alongside imaging findings and clinical assessment during your oncologist consultation — which is why specialist review is part of this package.

What is the Stool Occult Blood Test?

This checks for traces of blood in the stool that are invisible to the eye. Hidden blood loss can be an early indicator of colorectal cancer or pre-cancerous polyps. A small stool sample is all that is required; no bowel preparation is needed beforehand.

What is the turnaround time for reports?

Blood test, ultrasound, and X-ray reports are available digitally on the same day. The oncologist consultation is scheduled once the complete report is ready.

What is the flow of the check-up?

On arrival: registration → vitals → sample collection → imaging (chest X-ray, mammography, USG) → Pap Smear → oncologist consultation. Our team coordinates each step to keep wait times to a minimum.

Do I need to fast before my visit?

Yes, an overnight fast of 10–12 hours is required for certain blood tests. Water is permitted. Detailed preparation instructions will be shared after booking.

What happens if a result requires follow-up?

If any finding needs further investigation — an elevated tumour marker, an abnormal mammogram reading, or an unusual area on ultrasound — your oncologist will explain what it means and our team will assist with next steps, including specialist referrals where needed.
